JOWAI, Jan 9: A Dorbar Council was organised on Friday by the Dorbar Shnong of Namdong in view of the alleged encroachment into Thadmynri JHADC forest. It may be mentioned that the forest land was donated by the Dorbar Shnong to the JHADC, which is now home to sal wood, teak and other valuable trees.
The Dorbar Council was attended by the officials of the JHADC represented by the Chief Forest Officer and the locals.
Subsequent to the meeting, the Dorbar Shnong has also decided to amend the agreement pertaining to the land donation.
Meanwhile, the JHADC officials have said that they will inspect the forest land on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned that the village dorbar had donated the forest land to the JHADC in 1980.
However, for over 40 years neither the JHADC nor the Dorbar have benefitted from the pact.
The dorbar had earlier threatened of nullifying the agreement made between the Dorbar Shnong and the JHADC.
