Job mela
The office of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Meghalaya,  Yojaana in collaboration with M/s Apollo Med Skills, Hyderabad, organised a two-day job mela for its candidates who have completed training under health sector as well as the candidates who had to return to the state in view of the COVID-19. Altogether 97 candidates participated during the mela, during which 64 candidates were selected and 9 candidates were put under waiting list.

Condolence
A meeting was held on Sunday to condole the demise of and pay homage to former Congress MLA, Dhruba Nath Joshi, who breathed his last on January 11. According to a statement, the meeting was attended by various Gorkha organisations and people from Shillong. “The meeting felt that the death of Shri DN Joshi is an irreplaceable loss for the people of Meghalaya. It is a loss that cannot be filled with ease,” the statement said. A two-minute silence was also observed.

Dry day
West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared January 26 as dry day in the district on account of Republic Day. All liquor shops, IMFL shops, bar, hotel, canteen, CA bars, CS shop outstills and bonded warehouse shall remain shut, the directive said.

Natl Voters Day
The district-level function for the celebration of National Voters Day 2021 will be held on January 25 in DC Office, Shillong.
