Netaji’s birth anniv celebration tomorrow

SHILLONG, Jan 21: The 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be celebrated on January 23 at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, which will be marked by a rendition of Indian National Army (INA) patriotic songs, paying of floral tributes and lighting of 125 candles.
President of President, Greater Shillong Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee, Naba Bhattacharjee, said the function will be organised by the Committee.
It may be mentioned that the Committee has been holding the celebrations ever since the installation of the statue of Netaji in 1998.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who has been nominated as a member of the national committee constituted by Centre to commemorate the birth anniversary celebrations of Netaji, will hoist the Tricolour on January 23 at 08:30 am.
“The Greater Shillong Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committeewould also initiate steps regarding various programmes to be undertaken in co-ordination and support of Meghalaya government for successful year-long celebration in the state in a befitting manner since Netaji visited Shillong on two occasions – once in 1927 and again in 1938,” Bhattacharjee added.
