Award ceremony
The Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong will organise a vocational award ceremony at Hotel Landmark, Victoria, Nongrim Hills, Laitumkhrah, on Friday to celebrate the Vocational Services month (January) marked by Rotary International. According to a statement issue here, the ceremony has been organised to appreciate, thank and celebrate the notable contributions of individuals in their respective vocations.

Cleanest village
The East Jaintia Hills District Administration on Tuesday conferred Moolamylliang Village with a certificate and a plaque for emerging as the cleanest village in the Cleanest Village Competition 2020 organised under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin. The award was presented by PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar during a Republic Day function. The programme was also attended by East Jaintia Hills DC, E Kharmalki, among other officials. It may be reminded that Moolamylliang Village has been planting numerous trees since 2014. The practice continues till date.

Pilgrimage
The Lum Sohpetbneng Komiti, Seng Khasi Kmie, will hold the annual pilgrimage to Lum Sohpetbneng on February 7. However, in view of COVID-19 protocols, only people who will conduct the rites and rituals, and invitees will be allowed to be a part of the pilgrimage.

SK Oil rates
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) of East Jaintia Hills has informed that the rate of SK Oil has been revised and fixed for January. The increase in price of SK Oil happens every fortnight. A Khliehriat, wholesale price is Rs 33.82 and retail price is Rs 35.72; at Sonapur Oil Agency, wholesale rate is 34.08 and retail rate is Rs 35.98; and at Sutnga Sub-Depot, the wholesale rate has been fixed at Rs 37.79 and retail rate is Rs 39.69.

East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has directed vendors to seek the permission from Office of the Legal Metrology department before installing weighbridges.

Postponement
The Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Niangbari, has informed that the lateral entry selection test for admission into Class IX for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ri Bhoi, has been deferred and will be held on February 24.
