Panel formed for golden jubilee celebrations

SHILLONG, Jan 29: Ministers and legislators from both the state government and Opposition, chief executive members of autonomous district councils, Padma Shri recipients et al have become a part of the state-level committee that will function as the apex panel for the management of yearlong golden jubilee celebrations of Meghalaya’s statehood.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is the chairman of the committee while Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong is the vice-chairman. The committee also comprises several politicians that include Mukul Sangma, James Sangma, AL Hek, Brolding Nongsiej, Dasakhiatbha Lamare, Vincent Pala, Agatha Sangma, Dr W Kharlukhi, Sanbor Shullai, Ampareen Lyngdoh, PT Sawkmie, Adelbert Nongrum, besides others.
The chief executive members of the three autonomous district councils are also a part of the committee.
In addition, RL Blah, general secretary of the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep and David Syiemlieh, former chairman of Meghalaya Public Service Commission, are also the members of the Committee.
In addition, some of the Padma Shri recipients such as Manas Chaudhuri, B Gyndykes Dkhar and Trinity Saioo are also a part of the committee.
The committee will be the final authority responsible for all policy decisions on the golden jubilee programme and will also oversee the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
