SHILLONG, Jan 30: The First Circle Level Online Philatelic Exhibition, North East Philatelic Exhibition (NEPEX), 2021, entered its third day during which a special cover on Neermahal, Tripura, was released by Chief Postmaster General, NE Circle, S Mervin Alexander.
According to a statement, Saturday’s programme was attended by registrar of National Institute of Technology, Shillong, Bijaya Nanda Choudhury, as the guest of honor, postmaster generals T Mang Min Thang and Som Kamei, director of Postal Services Subash Chandra Barik, president of North East Philatelic Society Nanda Dulal Saha and other philatelists.
“Neermahal, also known as the lake palace, is a former royal palace built by Maharaja of Tripura Kingdom Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura, India, in the middle of the lake Twijilikma (now known as Rudrasagar) in 1930. It is situated in Melaghar, 53 kilometers away from Agartala, the capital of Tripura,” the statement said.
It may be mentioned that the curtain will come down on the exhibition on Sunday.
