SHILLONG, Feb 6: The Garo Hills unit of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has given the thumbs to the formation of the election committee ahead of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) polls.
The Garo Hills unit of the UDP, during a meeting on Saturday, also urged its parent party to bear in mind the aspirations as well as regional sentiments of the Garo Hills UDP.
“In its another resolution, the meeting also resolved to ask its circle units to firm up its cadres to reach its logical conclusion,” a statement from the UDP, Garo Hills unit said on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that the UDP has constituted a special committee to prepare the party for the upcoming GHADC elections slated for April 9.
The special committee has not only been empowered for the management of the election but will also have the authority of the State Election Committee.
It will further take care of all election-related issues including the selection of candidates as well as campaigning ahead of the GHADC elections.
