Ri Bhoi DC calls for adherence to guidelines

NONGPOH, Feb 21: Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner has urged the citizenry to strictly adhere to the guidelines pertaining to the abandoned borewells and tubewells for everyone’s safety.
In a statement, the DC also suggested owners of the abandoned borewells to remove all plumbing or piping and fill the entire well up to the land surface with cement grout, bentonite grout and dry clay.
“Furthermore, it is requested to all concerned to follow safety norms such as
)construction of cement concrete platform measuring 0.30m around the well, capping of well by a welding steel plate, erecting a chain link fence of 3.0mx3.0m around the well, filling up of mud pits and channel after completion of drilling operations and erection of sign board near the well with detail address at the time of construction of well,” the DC said.
