Super Division: Sputnik cruise past Nongmensong, win by seven wickets

SHILLONG, Feb 21: Defending champions Sputnik CC, which started their season on a winning note, on Sunday, registered a 7-wicket victory over Nongmensong CC here during the Shillong League Super Division match. Put in to bat first by Sputnik, Nongmensong put up a score of 162 in 31.4 overs. Nongmensong’s Indranil Chakrabarti scored 42 off 55 balls, while his teammate, Kiran Biswa, scored 29 off 35 balls. Mark Ingty of Sputnik, who was adjudged man of the match, scalped 4 wickets in the 7 overs he bowled while giving off 18 runs. On the other hand, Bisgen Tamang bowled well too with figure of 29/2 in 6.4 overs. In the second innings, two players from Sputnik — Romario Momin Sharma (58 runs off 30) and Amit Singhania (43 runs off 44) — led their team’s charge. They scored 166 in 23 overs to win the match. Shavian Blah of Nongmensong CC took two wickets and gave 30 runs in 5 overs.
