NONGPOH, Feb 23: Reacting to media reports, Dorbar Umling has raised concern over the name of the village being mentioned in sections of the local newspapers on alleged irregularities in one of the NHAI toll plazas in the state. It has clarified that the said toll plaza is located at 20 Mile Pahammawlein and not Umling, as reported.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, village Headman Comenson Wahlang said that there are no such toll plazas of the NHAI at Umling and that the unverified news has tarnished the image of the village and also confused the public at large.
Recently, the Pahammawlein toll plaza was doing rounds in the media after a video of one of the staff and a road user arguing over toll tax went viral on social media.
