Budget session from today

Shillong, March 4: The two-week long budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is set to begin today with Governor Satya Pal Malik’s address to the House.
On the eve of the budget session, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that the government will ensure that the budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal will focuses on developmental aspects.
Pointing out that the budget of the past year was affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sangma, who holds the Finance portfolio, said that these effects has already incorporate in the revised estimates by the Centre and the state government had to accordingly adjust and make changes in the State Plan.
“The recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission have already been announced. We have prepared the budget this time as per the projected state owned revenue while incorporating the recommendations of the Finance Commission,” Sangma said.
