MLA wants Kongthong to get global recognition

SHILLONG, March 7: South Shillong MLA and BJP leader, Sanbor Shullai, has sought the support of India’s representative to the executive board in UNESCO, Professor JS Rajput, to accord global recognition to Kongthong village in East Khasi Hills as a cultural heritage.
The legislator, who had met the UNESCO representative during his visit to New Delhi, requested the latter to visit the village soon. It was informed that Rajput has assured to take up the matter with UNESCO.
Meanwhile, Shullai also met MP Rakesh Sinha and thanked him for adopting Kongthong village.
