Stolen bikes intercepted
SHILLONG, March 17: Police on Wednesday intercepted two stolen bikes at Wahkdait and nabbed a person in this connection. According to a statement here on Wednesday, a police team, after receiving a tip-off, set up a naka check to in a bid to apprehend the thieves. Two stolen bikes, bearing registration numbers OD-04-E-9447 and ML-05-G-1066, were intercepted at Wahkdait, East Khasi Hills. Among the four, who tried to use a nearby jungle to steer clear of the cops, one Pynshai Rani was apprehended. Meanwhile, the police have informed that efforts are on to nab the other culprits.
PDS quota for Tura
TURA, March 17: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice for AAY, PHH and non-NFSA beneficiaries under NFSA and non-NFSA for March, in respect of Tura Sadar Division, has been released. In this regard, all the fair price shop dealers under the Division have been directed to issue rice as per government-prescribed scale of 35 kg of rice per card per month at the rate of Rs 3 per kg for AAY beneficiaries, 5 kg per head per month at Rs 3 per kg for PHH beneficiaries and 7.105 kg per card per month for which price has to be fixed by the Price Vigilance Committee, not exceeding Rs 13 per kg for non-NFSA beneficiaries.
World Water Day
SHILLONG, March 17: As part of the World Water Day celebrations, the Innovation Hub, Shillong Science Centre, will organise an online educational presentation on the need to value water on its official Facebook page, viz. Innovation Hub, Shillong Science Centre, on March 22 at 6:30 pm.
According to a statement, a design competition on ‘Design/Innovate a System/Technique/Ways on how you can value water at home’ will also be organised where the participants will have to shoot a three-minute video explaining the working of their designs and mail it to [email protected] by March 29. “1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be given a cash award of Rs 1500, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively. PWD workers under EPFO ambit
SHILLONG, March 17: Chief Engineer of state Public Works Department (Roads) has submitted the list of employees engaged with various contractors working in Meghalaya to the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Regional Office, Shillong, KK Srivastava. Srivastava has requested the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads), to get the PF code number before making any payments to the workers. Earlier, the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner had written to the Chief Secretary to instruct the Chief Engineer of the department to provide him with the list of the workers.
JHADC session summoned
JOWAI, March 17: The Chairman of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has summoned the JHADC Budget Session 2021-22. The JHADC Budget Session has been scheduled for March 25 from 10:30 am onwards.
