TURA, March 21: A barking deer was on Saturday night rescued from Doldegre area in the outskirts of Tura by members of local body engaged in the protection and preservation of the environment.
According to a delayed report, members of the A’chik Association for Protection of Environment (AAPE) were alerted by concerned residents who had discovered the injured fawn in the proximity of the under-construction Medical College site in the region.
The members immediately rushed to the spot and took the animal into their custody.
The District Forest Officer (DFO) of the Wildlife department was also informed and the animal was handed over to them.
“We were lucky that we received the information in time. The fawn would have surely died as it had a large wound on its abdomen and needed immediate medical attention,” Salgrak Marak, president of the association, said.
