Health minister exhorts people to enrol with MHIS

SHILLONG, March 22: Health Minister AL Hek on Monday urged the citizenry to enrol themselves with Megha Health Insurance Scheme and informed that by it will be a boon for them.
Hek was speaking as the chief guest during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the upgrade of Mylliem-Umthlong Sub Centre to Primary Health Centre at Umthlong Maweitnai.
Addressing the gathering, the health minister informed that since the PHC is meant for the public, they should avail all the benefits and services and ensure that the PHC is kept clean and safe.
He informed that the government has coughed up Rs 7.92 crore for the upgradation project, which will be completed within 18 months.
Hek also exhorted expectant mothers to go for regular check-ups.
Urban Affairs Minister Hamlet Dohling, who was the guest of honour, expressed hope that the PHC will see an increase in institutional deliveries and better healthcare for newborns, children and elderly. He also added that the state government is committed towards the general development of Mylliem village and many other activities would be rolled out in various sectors for the welfare of the society.
