Hek launches new services at city hospital

SHILLONG, March 23: Health Minister AL Hek on Tuesday inaugurated nine new services, including a casualty ward and an X-ray department, at Reid Provincial Chest Hospital.
A function to commemorate the second anniversary of Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) was also held on the same day.
Addressing hospital staffers, Hek said he was elated over the inauguration of the new services with the help of the revenue generated from MHIS.

The health minister also lauded the efforts of the hospital staff in creating a positive environment for patients.
The services that were inaugurated during the day include high dependency unit (TB), high dependency unit (non-TB), renovated PMJAY wards, CCTV monitoring system, hospital management software system, bronchoscopy centre and truenat room.
Later, the hospital staff were also awarded for their services during COVID-19.
DHS (MI) Dr Aman War, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr J Lakiang, and additional medical superintendent Dr B Thangkhiew, among others, had also attended the event.
