SCL: Nongthymmai pip Young Guns by 5 wickets

SHILLONG, March 27: Nongthymmai CC registered a 5 wicket victory over Young Guns CC in a Shillong Cricket League Super Division match here on Saturday. Earlier, Young Guns had won the toss and batted first posting a total of 203 all out in 32.1 overs. Viru Chettri top scored with a rapid 73 off 32 balls while Samir Qureshi played a patient 35. Sukhwinder Nahar took 4/32 while Man of the Match Raja Lama took 3/17 for Nongthymmai. In reply, Nonthymmai reached 206/5 in only 26 overs. Raja smashed a quickfire 50 in only 17 balls while Sandeep Chanda (40) helped stabilise the innings.

C Division at St. Anthony’s HSS Ground

Bogys Sports secured a 3 wicket win over YALM in a C Division match here on Saturday. Put in to bat first, YALM could only manage 102 before being bowled out in 17.3 overs. Wasbeer Nongbri top scored with 31 while Neeyazul Alam added 18. Man of the Match Avtar Singh bowled brilliantly to finish with figures of 4/12 in 4 overs while Roshan Kumar scalped three wickets conceding 24 runs. Chasing a moderately low target, Bogys Sports helped themselves to 104/7 in 16 overs thanks to a half century off only 26 balls by Sajan Maghaiya (56) and useful contributions by Hardeep Singh (13) and Avtar Singh (11). Hamid took 3/15 while Zahir took a wicket.

In the second match of the day, Press Club defeated Municipality by 62 runs after a resilient half century by Man of the Match Ronny Khongsar (70). Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Press Club amassed 173/5 in 20 overs. Besides Ronny’s knock, Sainpyniar Mukhim went on the offensive to add 37 off 20 balls. Pranjal took 2 wickets for Municipality. Needing 174 for a win, Municipality lost wickets early and looked to be bowled out for a low score. However, Shubham Kumar with an unbeaten 41 off 20 balls and Kamal Goswami (18) helped them get past the 100-run mark. Heipormi and Apjal both took 2 wickets apiece.
