SHG mela, health camp in EKH

SHILLONG, March 27: To acknowledge the role of self-help groups (SHGS) and in a bid to address women’s issues, the Mawryngkneng C&RD Block, East Khasi Hills, organised a SHG mela-cum-health camp at Smit village on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by East Khasi Hills ADC, E Warjri, in the presence of Ronald Kynta, Chief Operating Officer, Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS), R Wahlang, BDO, Mawryngkneng and officers from various departments.
The programme was participated by over 20 prominent SHGs under Mawryngkneng Block and womenfolk from Smit and adjoining villages.
While addressing the gathering, Warjri congratulated the BDO and his team for their efforts under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), wherein over 400 SHGs were formed within a short span of time.
