Book release
Faunal Diversity of Biogeographic Zones of India: North-East, a book depicting the rich faunal diversity of North East, will be released at 2 pm on Thursday at the auditorium of the Zoological Regional Centre in Shillong. The programme will be attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & HoFF, BK Lyngwa, and Additional PCCF (WL) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Meghalaya, HC Chaudhary, as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Dry day
The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) has declared April 2 as dry day in the district in view of Good Friday. In this regard, all wholesalers, IMFL retailers, bars and outstills have been directed to remain shut, the deputy commissioner said in an order.
Price revision
The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that the price of SK Oil has been revised across the district. According to a statement, the wholesale prices for Khliehriat, Sonapur Oil Agency and Sutnga Sub-Depot have been fixed at Rs 39.30, Rs 39.56 and Rs 43.27 respectively. “The retail price at Khliehriat is Rs 41.20, at Sonapur Oil Agency the retail price has been fixed at Rs 41.46 and at Sutnga Sub-Depot Sutnga the retail price has been fixed at Rs 45.17,” the statement added. Meanwhile, the retail price for Fair Price Shop Centre beyond 5 km from the wholesale outlets at Khliehriat, Sonapur and Sutnga will be fixed by the concerned vigilance committee.
Body found
The body of a person identified as Moris Lamin (46), a resident of Nongjngi Khliehriat in West Jaintia Hills, was recovered from Takhniang village within Nartiang PS on Tuesday morning. Sources informed that the deceased might have been murdered by some miscreant from Nongjngi village, who allegedly dumped his body at Takhniang.
