TURA, April 1: The eight-month-long Nasha-Mukt Bharat Campaign, organised by the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) in South Garo Hills, on Thursday concluded at the District Sports Playground in Baghmara.
During the campaign, which began on August 15 last year, a spate of events like awareness programmes, community participation programmes, media campaign, marathon race, poetry and slogan writing competitions were organised.
South Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi, who was speaking during the programme on Thursday, congratulated the DSWO for successful concluding the campaign against drugs and alcohol abuse.
Exhorting the youths to steer clear of such habits, the SP suggested them to seek help and advice from elders if in trouble.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, MT Sangma, lauded the District Task Force of Nasha-Mukt Bharat Campaign and informed that 3,000 people from the district benefitted out of programme.
