CRPF observes Valour Day
SHILLONG, April 9: Recalling the sacrifices made by the personnel who bravely fought for the nation and repulsed the attack by Pakistan Brigade at Rann of Kutch in Gujarat in April, 1965, the North Eastern Sector (NES) Headquarter, CRPF, along with 67 Bn CRPF observed the Valour Day 2021 at the Battalion Headquarter here on Friday. Officials from NES, CRPF Headquarter — Sonal V Misra, IG, Vinay Kr. Singh, DIG, Mohan Prakash, Commandant and Ram Sukhpal Singh, DIG — besides 2I/C, Commandant of 67 Bn CRPF (AOL), Md Yusuf, among various officers, took the pledge to remember the good deeds of the martyrs and conveyed best wishes to the medal awardees.
Week-long prog for needy children
SHILLONG, April 9: A week-long sports programme for underprivileged children was organised by SPARK Mawlong village centre to bring a sense of excitement and joy a time when the state is grappling with the fear of a possible second wave of the dreaded coronavirus. Speaking as the chief guest of the programme, Mawryngkneng MLA Highlander Kharmalki boosted the confidence of the underprivileged children encouraging them to strive for a bright future. The programme, which concluded on Friday, started with a prayer followed by a march past parade performed by the children for the very first time. The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of different sports activities, which was followed by a music session.
Holiday in SWKH
SHILLONG, April 9: The deputy commissioner of South West Khasi Hills has declared April 19 as a holiday on account of Shad Suk Mynsiem. According to the directive from the DC, all state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutes in the district will remain closed on the day.
Farmers Innovation Expo
SHILLONG, April 9: The College of Agriculture (CoA), Kyrdemkulai, recently organised ‘Farmers Innovation Expo-2021’ during which farmers received training on skill development in various areas of rural bio-entrepreneurship. According to a statement, the expo was attended by over 100 farmers.
