Cyclonic storm ravages parts of Ri Bhoi district

SHILLONG, April 22: Cyclonic storm accompanied by heavy rains wreak havoc in several parts of Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya on Thursday evening.

As per sources, several houses were damage and four civilians from Umkynsier village under Jirang Constituency and two police personnel of the 6th Battalion Camp, Umran Niangbyrnai were injured. The injured civilians were later shifted to nearby PHC for treatment.

Sources informed that Umkynsier village is the worst affected in the sudden cyclonic storm. Other affected villages include Warmawsaw, Mawskei Lum, Mawskei Them, Pathardharo and Umiapkhla.

However, in Umsning Constituency, it was reported that few barracks of the police personnel of the 6th Battalion Camp were damaged.
