TURA, April 25: Police in North Garo Hills are on the hunt for four members of a local organisation who are absconding after they were questioned for their alleged involvement in extortion from a scrap truck at Rari under Bajengdoba Police station.
According to police, the four were earlier brought for questioning on the basis of a verbal complaint made against them that they had intercepted a scrap truck travelling from Dadenggre and attempted to extort money from the driver somewhere between Gokul and Rari.
A complaint was filed against the four on Saturday after which police made efforts to nab them, only to find them absconding.
“We have begun our investigation and efforts are being made to nab all four accused,” police informed.
