Experts to allay public fears tomorrow

SHILLONG/TURA, April 29: In a bid to disseminate awareness on COVID-19 vaccine and the importance of vaccination, COVID-appropriate behaviour and the recent upsurge in the cases of the viral disease, a press conference between a panel of experts including doctors and the general public will be held and live-streamed on DDK Shillong and local cable channels on May 1 starting 2 pm, the Directorate of Health Services (MI) has informed.
The panel will address and clarify on any issues relating to the vaccination programme against COVID-19.
Dorbar’s aid for locals
The Dorbar Shnong of Golf Links on Thursday provided monetary assistance to the COVID-affected families.
The members of the community today gave away Rs 1,000 each to 25 households in the locality, who have been afflicted with the virus.
Rocky Hek, the in-charge of the Shnong, said that they would continue to serve the society in times of distress.
COVID death in SGH
South Garo Hills on Thursday reported another death on Thursday after a coal exporter, who was stationed at Gasuapara export point of South Garo Hills, located on the border with Bangladesh, died en route to Dalu CHC hospital in West Garo Hills. He was later found positive for COVID-19.
The 35-year-old victim, Dhaneswar Debarma, from Tripura had been ailing for some time and complained of chest pain with weakness. He was yet to be vaccinated against COVID.
