SHILLONG, May 1: Meghalaya recorded a new high of 262 fresh COVID-19 cases as the active tally breached the 1,600-mark. The state also recorded three fatalities and 192 recoveries.
The total active cases now stand at 1,659 while the number of recoveries is 15,275. The death toll rose to 174.
Out of the 262 new cases, 161 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 38 in Ri Bhoi, 16 in West Garo Hills, 12 in West Jaintia Hills, nine in East Garo Hills, eight each in West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills, five in South West Khasi Hills, four in South Garo Hills and one in South West Garo Hills.
There are 1,095 active cases in East Khasi Hills, 186 in Ri Bhoi, 85 in West Jaintia Hills, 83 each in East Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills, 44 in West Khasi Hills, 29 in East Garo Hills, 22 in South West Khasi Hills, 15 in South Garo Hills, 11 in North Garo Hills and six in South West Garo Hills.
From the 192 recoveries, 135 were in East Khasi Hills, 28 in West Jaintia Hills, 16 in Ri Bhoi, five in East Jaintia Hills and four each in West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.
David Dkhar (66), resident of Madanrting, Shillong, was admitted in Nazareth Hospital on April 21 and died on April 30. The cause of death is Covid-19 pneumonia with sepsis with diabetes mellitus with hypertension and end-stage renal disease.
Laxmi Devi (65) of Lad Umsaw, Ri Bhoi, was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital on April 20 and died on May 1. The cause of death is type I respiratory failure due to Covid-19 pneumonia with septic shock with type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension.
Stik Kharlynnai (65) of Mawmaram was admitted at NEIGRIHMS on April 25 and died on May 1. The cause of death is type I respiratory failure with Covid-19 with multi-organ dysfunction syndrome and other comorbidities.
