PNB Jowai branch shut

JOWAI, May 18: The Punjab National Bank (formerly UBI) Jowai Branch, Iawmusiang, has been closed down from May 18 till May 27 by the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills after reports were received from the senior manager of the bank that a COVID-19 positive case was detected at the bank.
Further, the district magistrate has advised all persons who had visited the branch to isolate themselves and go for home quarantine for 10 days with self-monitoring of their health besides following basic health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and frequently washing hands.
During the period of quarantine, if symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing develop, the people are to immediately isolate themselves and contact their local headman, the district magistrate added.
Containment order
Meanwhile, the district magistrate has declared Mudop locality and Dong law, Nartiang village in West Jaintia Hills as containment area until further orders after COVID-19 cases/high-risk contacts were detected in the aforementioned areas.
