NONGPOH, May 27: A minor girl from Ri Bhoi was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a resident of Umjarasi village on Wednesday night. The accused has been identified as Rulius Lapang (27).
Sources said that Lapang had come to pick up the girl from her residence at 11:49 pm on Wednesday night. Her parents and family members, however, tried to stop him but he fled with the minor girl and allegedly raped her later.
Following this, the minor’s family, after hours of searching, finally found her lying unconscious at the car wash area at Umdihar village.
She was later brought to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for examination.
The family of the girl has filed a police complaint with Nongpoh Women Police Station against the accused.
