Banks, post offices in EKH allowed to function

SHILLONG, June 5: East Khasi Hills District Administration allowed banks and post offices to function in the district, albeit with restrictions.
According to a statement on Saturday, the Main Branch, Laitumkhrah Branch and Secretariat Branch of State Bank of India have been allowed to open, with limited staff, for purpose of government transactions only.
“All other banks in East Khasi Hills are permitted to open on June 7 and 8 with limited staff for the purpose of urgent transactions only. They shall close by 4 pm,” the directive said.
The post offices, on the other hand, have been allowed to function on June 9, 10 and 11 with limited staff. “On the aforesaid days, all banks/post offices officials may furnish IDs as curfew pass,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, employees from containment areas and the ones having any symptom have been barred from attending duty.
Curfew extended in EKH
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo has extend ed the curfew in East Khasi Hills till 5 am of June 14.
According to the directive, the extension order gets effectuated from 5 am of June 7.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo has allowed Farmer’s Market 7th Mile and Farmer’s Market Lad Smit to function from June 7 till June 11 between 7 am and 5 pm.
The Agriculture department has been asked to make necessary arrangements along with concerned groups for space allocation, entry-exit points, parking space etc.
“Car passes will be issued by the Director of Agriculture and concerned BDOs,” the DC said.
