Call to raise voice against harassment of doctors

SHILLONG, June 14: Informing that the Indian Medical Association (IM) has decided to take up the issue of violence against doctors across the country, the IMA Meghalaya State Chapter called upon all medical doctors to raise a voice against rising violence and harassment of medical practitioners on social media.
In a statement issued here on Monday, vice president and spokesperson IMA Meghalaya State Chapter, Dr Bernard T Lyngdoh Ryntathiang, informed that the national body in consultation with all state chapters of the country, has urged all doctors to wear black badges or black shirt/tie etc between June 15 and 18 in a bid to create public awareness and enact stronger central and state laws for ensuring safety of healthcare workers.
He also informed that members of a few large state chapters are also going to close down OPD services on June 18 although emergency services will continue.
