SHILLONG, July 9: The Meghalaya BJP has suspended party member, Dr KC Boro, from the primary membership of the party for his alleged breach of discipline.
The stern decision from the party president, Ernest Mawrie, comes in the wake of Boro contending that leaderships from Garo Hills support Health Minister AL Hek as the party president.
In the letter to Boro on Friday, Mawrie told him to not visit any of the party offices at any level till the disciplinary proceedings are completed. The leader from Garo Hills was also issued a show-cause notice by the state party president.
“You are served upon the instant notice for deliberately going to a section of media in most unauthorised manner and willfully publishing news aimed at misleading and arousing indiscipline in the rank and file of the party which is a gross breach of party discipline,” the show-cause notice read.
Asking Boro to furnish his reply within 7 days, Mawrie has nominated Bakul Ch Hajong as state vice president, Meghalaya Pradesh, for the term 2020-2023.
