MAWKYRWAT/ TURA, July 11: Hairdressers and cobblers, one of those who have been severely hit by the pandemic, were provided with financial assistance and hand sanitisers by the HSPDP Youth Wing in a programme organised at Mawkyrwat.
Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar, who is also the PHE Minister, urged the hairdressers — both salons and beauty parlours — who own businesses at Mawkyrwat Market to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols, failing which they might have to close down their shops.
Speaking at the programme organised by the HSPDP Youth Wing, Tongkhar said, “This is good news for all of you who have not been able to open the shops like others. Maybe the Deputy Commissioner will be able to issue the SOPs where all of you have to follow while running the business.
There were some shops (salon and beauty parlours) that did not follow or respect the protocols issued by the Health department and they were the reasons that these kinds of shops have not been permitted to operate until now. Therefore, I expect all of you to strictly follow the SOPs to avoid complications in the near future”.
The MLA also said that 92 per cent of the deaths due to COVID-19 are of unvaccinated people. He called upon the public to not believe in rumours, but come forward for vaccination for normalcy to return.
The MLA also lauded the HSPDP Youth Wing of Mawkyrwat for taking the initiative to extend a helping hand to all the hairdressers and cobblers in Mawkyrwat Market who have not been able to open their shops for the last few months due to the pandemic.
