SHILLONG, July 14: The KHADC is still examining the proposed land acquisition by the BSF for setting up a shooting range in the villages falling under Raid Tynring in East Khasi Hills.
“We cannot take a decision on this matter in a rush since it requires detailed deliberations,” KHADC CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne, said here on Wednesday.
According to him, the landowners had given the power of attorney to one woman to initiate the process of land acquisition with the BSF.
“Both the landowners and the BSF have completed all the necessary procedures for acquiring the land. They have even received the NOC from the Raid Tynring and from the Sordar of Raid Tynring,” the Council CEM said.
“The government will not be able to move ahead with this land acquisition unless it receives the NOC from the Council,” Chyne said.
He also said that the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner in 2019 had asked the Council to give its consent on the proposed acquisition of land by the BSF.
Earlier on Wednesday, the KSU Eastern Border Area and Shillong Mihngi Circle have urged the KHADC CEM not to give the NOC for the proposed land acquisition.
