BSF DG visits M’laya, reviews security scenario along int’l border

SHILLONG, July 24: Director General of BSF, Rakesh Asthana, on Saturday visited Meghalaya and reviewed the security scenario along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Hardeep Singh, and other BSF officials here apprised Asthana of the status quo along the international border and in the hinterland.
According to a statement, the DG also visited the Dawki BOP and held interactions with the troops deployed there.
He also told the jawans to leave no stone unturned in thwarting all illegal transborder activities that include smuggling of cattle and narcotics, and human trafficking. “He emphasised on counselling and buddy system to reduce suicide cases in the force. He further explained the existing grievances redressal system available for all jawans. He also educated troops for using social media platforms in the right perception,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, a plantation drive was also organised during the day.
The DG had, en route the border, also distributed masks, sanitisers and eatable items to the villagers. He also held interactions with the locals and assured all possible help from the BSF.
