Ex-NPP candidate accused of encouraging plying of heavy trucks
TURA, Aug 14: Locals in Mahendraganj of South West Garo Hills have accused former NPP candidate, Sanjay A Sangma, who is also the secretary of the Mahendraganj Export Association, of encouraging plying of overloaded trucks. It may be mentioned that the locals have written to Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, seeking the latter’s intervention into the issue. They had, in their complaint, also blamed the Association for causing damage to NH-51 by using overloaded trucks to export boulders to neighbouring Bangladesh through the international border at Dalu. However, one of the locals has now pinned the blame on Sanjay A Sangma and has sought action against him. “Each overloaded truck pays him Rs. 2000,” said the person.
