MDC clarifies on road damage allegations

TURA, Aug 18: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) MDC from Zikzak, Akthar Ali, has refuted the allegations made by locals that the damage to NH-51, which runs from Mahendraganj to Dalu, has been caused due to the plying of overladen boulder trucks by the Mahendraganj Exporters’ Association.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ali termed rendered the charges as false and politically motivated. He also said that plying of trucks is within the jurisdiction of the Police department.
With regard to the alleged illegal collection, Ali said there has been no collection either by the Association secretary or by any of its members.
Meanwhile, a similar clarification in this regard was also issued by the Mahendraganj Exporters’ Association.
