SHILLONG, Aug 19: In the wake of sporadic cases of conflicts along the interstate border areas of Meghalaya and Assam being reported lately, Mawhati MDC Charles Marngar has beseeched Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to deploy some sections of CRPF and BSF troops at Umwat village in Ri Bhoi so as to strengthen the presence of Meghalaya’s security forces along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
Marngar, who called on the chief minister here on Thursday, highlighted that Government of Assam has set up a CRPF camp in Umlaper village in Block II.
He said that albeit the authorities from Assam had assured of removing the camp after August 15, the CRPF personnel continue to be stationed there.
