City college gets green award
SHILLONG, Aug 26: Among other colleges in East Khasi Hills, St. Edmund’s College was conferred with the District Green Champion award. This was informed by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo at an online workshop on Swacchta Action Plan (SAP) organised by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) on Thursday, in which she was the chief guest. More than 320 principals and teachers attended the online workshop via zoo. The certificate of award was officially handed over to the Principal of St, Edmund’s College, Dr. Sylvanus Lamare, by the DC at her office. During the workshop, V Ravinder Reddy, project coordinator of MGNCRE, and his team, gave a presentation on various aspects of SAP. Colleges from East Khasi Hills also made their presentations and initiatives taken in their institutes.
Odd-even rule scrapped in WGH
TUFA, Aug 26: The West Garo Hills District Administration has decided to discontinue the regulation of private and public transport based on odd-even basis. The order, which comes into effect from Friday, however, said that drivers of all public transport, including maxi cabs and auto rickshaws, will have to display their vaccination status on the windshield. The DC has also directed the Superintendent of Police and special executive magistrates to strictly ensure that the rules are adhered to.
PDS quota for Sohra
SHILLONG, Aug 26: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Sohra Civil Sub-Division, has informed that PDS rice for August has been released at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg for AAY card holders, 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg for PHH card holders and 7.215 kg per card at the cost fixed by the Vigilance Committee of not more than Rs 15 per kg for Non-NFSA card holders. In addition, rice free of cost under PMGKAY at 5 kg per head for AAY and PHH card holders for August has also been released.
