Body found in city
SHILLONG, Sep 4: The body of an unidentified man was found lying behind MTC Building, Jail Road, on August 8, following which it was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for autopsy. According to a statement on Friday, the body has, after the post-mortem, been kept at the hospital morgue for identification process. According to the statement, the build of the man is medium and the colour of his hair is black, he is approximately 5.4 feet tall, his complexion is swarthy and he has a beard. Meanwhile, any concerned have been asked to contact 03642222277 for identification process.

Free LPG connection
DADENGGRE/ JOWAI, Sep 4: The Sub-Divisional Officer (Supply) of Dadenggre has informed that free LPG connections for women beneficiaries belonging to the economically weaker section are being released. According to the order, adult women belonging to the economically weaker section without LPG connection are eligible under Ujjwala 2.0 for availing the scheme. “To avail this facility, one must belong to SC/ST, must be eligible as per SECC list and must be beneficiary of PMAY and AAY,” it stated.
Identify beneficiaries for central scheme: WJH DC
The West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has directed the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem Subdivision and Block Development Officers from the district to identify economically backward women under their respective jurisdictions and enrol them into central government’s free LPG connection scheme through village heads.

Webinar on finance management
NONGSTOIN, Sep 4: An investor awareness webinar on strategy for managing personal finance including Mutual Funds (MFs) was organised at Nongstoin College on Friday by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and Nongstoin College through the Department of Commerce. The webinar was inaugurated by the Principal of Nongstoin College, Dr. I Mawthoh, and a keynote address was given by Surya Kanti Sharma, senior consultant, AMFI (former DGM), who also delivered a lecture on the topic. The programme was attended by the faculty members, staff and students of the institution.

Awareness prog in Nongstoin
NONGSTOIN, Sep 4: As part of the countrywide observance of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-India@75, the office of the BDO, Nongstoin C&RD Block, in collaboration with the village employment councils of the block organised a block-level awareness programme here on Friday. The programme was attended by Chairman of Meghalaya State Law Commission and local MLA, Macmillan Byrsat, as chief guest in the presence of Block Development Officer, Nongstoin C&RD Block, CP Mawkon, Assistant Engineer, Nongstoin C&RD Block, P Snaitang, among others. In her address, Additional Project Officer of Community Leadership and Institutional Building Programme, I Kharbani, spoke on the topic Rights and Entitlement under MGNREGA and Agri and Allied Activities. P Snaitang spoke on Rural Haats. Speakers, during the programme, highlighted the various schemes and programmes concerning their respective sectors including schemes such as the MGNREGA, PMAY, NRLM and others.

Quiz competition on geosciences
SHILLONG, Sep 4: An online quiz called GeoQuiz was jointly organised by the Krishnanunni Memorial Charitable Trust and Department of Geology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, on Friday, to pay tribute to Sri Kalathinkal Krishnanunni, former Director General, Geological Survey of India (GSI), who has immensely contributed towards mineral and energy resources of Northeastern region and preparation of development of village economy maps (DOVE Map). More than 150 participants from the North East participated in the quiz, the results of which were declared in the valedictory session. The quiz had questions to promote geosciences among the students of Northeastern region. The prize money was awarded to the top three rank holders — T Sumit Singha (1st), Cotton University, Guwahati, Rs 15,000, Anshuman Konwar (2nd), St. Antony’s College, Shillong, Rs 10,000, and Kaushik Baishya (3rd), Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati Rs 5,000 — with proficiency certificates, while all other participants were provided certificate of participation virtually.
