Reguilón added in Spain’s squad
Madrid, Sep 6: Coach Luis Enrique has called up Sergio Reguilón to replace the injured José Luis Gayà for Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Kosovo, the Spanish football federation said Monday. Gayà was substituted in the 75th minute against Georgia on Sunday because of a muscle injury. The federation said the left back will undergo further tests but was left out regardless of the results as a precaution. (AP)
Shubhankar finishes T-12 in Rome
Rome, Sep 6: India’s Shubhankar Sharma reserved his best for the final round as he turned in a sizzling five-under 66 to sign off tied 12th at the DS Automobiles Italian Open. Nicolai Højgaard held off a strong chasing pack to claim his maiden European Tour title with a one shot victory. (PTI)
Aditi finishes T-12 at Creekhouse
Ahus (Sweden), Sep 6: Indian golfer Aditi Ashok endured a rollercoaster final round, carding an even par 72 to finish a creditable Tied-12th at the Creekhouse Ladies Open here. Aditi, who finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics, totalled 3-over and was Tied for 12th place, close on the heels of her Tied-10th finish at Skafto Open last week. Tvesa Malik had missed the cut earlier in the week. Maja Stark held her nerve on the final day to claim a four-shot victory and secure her first LET title in just her third event. (PTI)
Bottas to join Alfa Romeo in 2022
Turin, Sep 6: Valtteri Bottas’ departure from Mercedes has been confirmed – clearing the way for British driver George Russell to join Lewis Hamilton. Bottas will make the switch to Alfa Romeo in 2022 after five seasons alongside Hamilton at the Silver Arrows. The 32-year-old Finn, who finished third at Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix, will replace Kimi Raikkonen. The 2007 world champion, 41, will retire from Formula One at the end of the year. It is expected that Russell’s elevation from Williams to Mercedes will be announced on Tuesday. (AP)
