SHILLONG, Sep 17: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said that the government is examining the proposals to create new districts and subdivisions in Meghalaya during the year 2021-2022.
Replying to a query from Congress MLA George Lyngdoh, the chief minister said that as of now, government has decided to upgrade Mairang subdivision into a district while other proposals are under examination.
Conrad also informed that the parameters that will be taken into consideration before the creation of new districts and subdivisions are extent of the area, population, distance from existing district/subdivision headquarters and others.
Earlier, Lyngdoh sought a comparative analysis of pending demands for creation of district and civil subdivisions in Meghalaya.
