TURA, Sep 22: A total of Rs. 78,17,288 has been disbursed to Garo Hills between April and September 2021 for COVID-19 management.
This was revealed during a review meeting on Wednesday, which was attended by Chief Secretary MS Rao, deputy commissioners from all Garo Hills districts, health officials, et al.
Chief Secretary, MS Rao, who arrived in Garo Hills on Wednesday to review status of COVID-19 vaccination and Aadhaar enrolment in the region, lamented that despite vaccine availability, the overall vaccination coverage in Meghalaya has not been up to the mark.
Rao also informed that Meghalaya’s Aadhaar enrolment drive has seen a lacklustre response, especially when compared to other states.
During the meeting, officials from the Health department highlighted the challenges to improve the COVID-19 vaccination in Garo Hills.
The vaccination coverage for all categories in South West Garo Hills was 74.0 per cent, highest in Garo Hills, followed by West Garo Hills with 59 per cent and the second dose coverage in West Garo Hills was high with 18,034 people vaccinated, the official informed.
