GSU wants driver arrested, files FIR

TURA, Sep 26: An FIR has been filed against the Dalu General Exporters’ Association and the Tribal Exporters’ Association in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy, who was run over by a dumper truck on Saturday afternoon.
The FIR was filed by president of the Garo Student’s Union (GSU) from Ampati in South West Garo Hills, Saman D Sangma,
Five-year-old Laksbath S Sangma from Kotchuadok village under Barengapara Police Station was run over by a boulder-laden truck coming from Dalu. The FIR was filed on Sunday with the officer in-charge of the Purakhasia Police Outpost as the place of the tragic incident falls under it.
The GSU president, in the FIR, has demanded the immediate arrest of the accused driver.
“We demand necessary action against the driver who must be arrested immediately. Appropriate action should also be taken against the two exporters’ association who are also responsible for the death of an innocent child,” Salman D Sangma said in the FIR.
It may be mentioned that following the incident, the truck was soon seized at Mahendraganj. However, the accused driver is still at large.
