Open Golf: Samridh leads Round 1

SHILLONG, Oct 30: Kolkata Native Samridh Sen’s consistent run continued as he fired a round two over 72 to take the lead in round one of the Shillong Amateur Open Golf 2021 at the par 70 Shillong Golf Course.
Samridh Sen who is riding on the confidence of 5 top ten finishes in his five starts this season, displayed spectacular golf on his way to the clubhouse to go two shots clear off his nearest competitor Abhishek Mitra.
Mitra followed in second in Amateur while leading in Mid Amateur after carding a round of four over 74. Jakir Hussain and KI Singh both returned with scores of five over 75 to jointly take the 3rd place after the first round.
Mitra’s tremendous effort got him the lead in Mid Amateur with Jakir Hussain and K I Singh breathing down his neck trailing by just a shot.
Gaurav Bajaj signed for a round of seven over 77.
In the Senior category, Benu Malakar carded a round of 78 to take the sole lead. SN Chowdhury and Hector Marwein both shot 82 today to share second spot. Marwein took the lead in the Super Senior followed by Anil Pargal and K Indrajit who shot 85 and 86 respectively.
In the Ladies division, K Brahma carded 93 to take the lead while Jyoti Agarwal’s 94 gave her sole second.
In the Jr Category 1, Da I Paya Dkhar and Shivaai Agarwal were declared joint winners and in Jr Category 2 Aryan Bajaj and Sharanya Bajaj lifted the winner and Runners up position.
