Training on handloom weaving under way in EGH

TURA, Oct 30: A five-day training programme, organised by the Sericulture Office in collaboration with Meghalaya Basin Development Authority got under way at Nongbak Rengkil village, East Garo Hills, on Thursday.
According to a statement, the programme is being organised in a bid to impart need-based training and to upgrade skills on handloom weaving.
Extra Assistant Commissioner, Williamnagar, YW Momin, in his address on the inaugural programme as the chief guest, accentuated the need to revive traditional weaving. He also highlighted the importance of imparting the right skills on handloom weaving to the youths.
Others who spoke during the programme were District Programme Officer, Basin Development Unit, Williamnagar, Z Sangma, and District Sericulture Officer, Williamnagar, Sanre Momin.
