SHILLONG, Nov 3: The Awaken India Movement, Meghalaya unit, has questioned the decision of the Forest and Environment department to disallow entry of unvaccinated people to Lady Hydari Park, also known as Phan Nonglait Park.
The leaders of the Movement, on Wednesday, called on senior official from the department, PR Marak, and sought the latter’s clarification on the issue, and were informed that they are following order issued by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner.
Alleging that the state government is trying to adopt a policy of “divide-and-rule” by putting such a restriction, Marbaniang said, “The decision to disallow people who are yet to be vaccinated to visit the party is a clear violation of the Fundamental Rights.”
