Shillong celebrates Constitution Day

SHILLONG, Nov 26: Along with the rest of the country, Constitution Day was celebrated across parts of Shillong during which tributes were paid to the chief architect of the

Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the Preamble to the Constitution was read, discussions were held, et al.
To mark the day, the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy held a panel discussion at Aurobindo Hall, Bivar Road, Shillong, on Article 14.
The panellists who spoke during the programme include Assistant Professor from Political Science Department, Synod College, Dr. Batskhem Myrboh, Senior Advocate, Meghalaya High Court, VK Jindal, Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem.
The programme was also attended by students from Law Department of NEHU and Shillong Law College.
To mark the day, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong, in association with Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club, organised activities at Gandhi Buniyadi Hindi Secondary School for the youths of Pynthorbah, Golf Links, Mawpun, Shiap, Lumsohkynpor and Polo Hills. “The activities undertaken during the occasion included pledge on our Constitution, reading of Preamble, singing of National Anthem, questionnaire on our Constitution, group discussion, projection of short documentary on the life and works of BR Ambedkar,” a statement issued in this regard said.
The day was also celebrated at the North Eastern Council (NEC) Secretariat Shillong during which officials and staff of joined the reading of the Preamble by NEC member, Air Marshal (Retd) Anjan Kumar Gogoi, which was them followed by speeches from the officials.
Gogoi, during the programme, also touched upon the importance of the Constitution Day.
In North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, and the University fraternity joined President Ram Nath Kovind in the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution.
