Agra/ Mathura, Nov 28: Two minor girls, one of them a Dalit, were sexually assaulted in separate incidents in Agra and Vrindavan.
The accused in both cases were neighbours of the victims.
The first case pertains to a 6-year-old girl, who had gone to the government primary school in Agra with other children on Thursday.
She was picked from the school by her 22-year-old neighbour, identified as Bobby, who allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Station House Officer (SHO) of the area, where the incident took place, said that the police have registered an FIR under IPC section 376 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl’s father, a labourer, said that Bobby pretended to be the girl’s brother and requested the school teacher to allow her to go with him as she was unwell.
“My daughter was crying when she came back home but she did not tell the reason,” he said, adding that she later shared details about the incident with her aunt.
Her father then reached out to the police and registered a complaint against Bobby, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
According to the police, the suspect in the Vrindavan case is a 16-year-old minor who allegedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old Dalit girl.
He took her with him on the pretext of giving her toffees while she was playing outside her house.
In the FIR, the girl’s father stated that his niece had witnessed the suspect raping her cousin. The boy ran away, when she cried out for help.
The girl’s family alleged that they approached the boy’s family to inform them about his act, but they misbehaved with them and passed casteist remarks.
Superintendent of Police (SP) (city) M.P. Singh said that an FIR has been registered against the suspect under IPC section 376, along with POCSO and SC/ST Act. The boy was taken into custody and later sent to a juvenile home, he added. (IANS)
