BSF event recalls 1971 war heroes

SHILLONG, Dec 13: As part of the Border Security Force’s (BSF) series of events to mark the 50th year of independence of Bangladesh and to highlight the contribution of the BSF in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, a ‘Joint Cultural Programme’ with Bangladesh was conducted at Integrated Check Post (ICP) Dawki under Meghalaya Frontier on Monday with the objective to remember ‘Mukti Yodha’ of both sides who fought for the good of the two countries.
At the event, war veterans were felicitated, and performances of renowned troupes from Bangladesh and India enthralled the crowd.
Apart from these, the war veterans shared their experiences with the gathering of around 500 people from the two countries, which also included eminent personalities and state dignitaries along with senior officials of the BSF.
The programme was duly appreciated and applauded by one and all.
