SHILLONG, Dec 21: The State Congress on Tuesday claimed that the MDA Government was not fully prepared to handle the new variant of COVID-19.
“The state government is not fully prepared. European nations are affected, there are cases in India also and we do not know when it will come to our state. The government should be fully prepared,” Congress working president, PN Syiem said.
Asked why he thought the government was not prepared to handle Omicron, Syiem said, “When we visit any PHC or CHC you will not see any level of preparedness. There is nothing physical on the ground that can explain that the state government is prepared.”
Pointed out that the state government has asserted that they stand prepared, Syiem said, “Show us the evidence. How many health workers have been recruited to face this next pandemic? There is no preparation except for words.”
