SHILLONG, Dec 28: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge, PWD (Roads), Prestone Tynsong, has informed that work on different infrastructural projects under the department are either completed or are nearing completion.
He also pointed out that a number of projects were sanctioned by the government during 2018-19 and 2019-2020. Of the pending projects, Tynsong said he is according more focus to two bridges — one in Umpling and the other in Mawlai.
Expressing hope that construction of the two bridges will abate traffic woes, the deputy chief minister said that a deadline of March has been fixed for the two projects.
It may be mentioned that the work on the bridge connecting Rynjah and Umpling has taken a back seat for almost two years in view of COVID-19 pandemic and recurring floods.
Earlier, the Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) had also informed that at least 12 projects financed by the World Bank will be completed by 2022.
Out of the 12 World Bank-funded projects, 10 are road projects while the other two are bridge projects.
